The CSV-1000®E is a contrast sensitivity chart with 4 rows of sine-wave gratings. At the recommended testing distance of 8 ft (2.4 m), the gratings test spatial frequencies of 3, 6, 12 and 18 cycles/degree.
It provides a full contrast sensitivity curve, useful for evaluating ocular disease (particularly cataracts, glaucoma, optic neuritis, diabetes and macular degeneration), contact lenses and refractive surgery. For cataract evaluation and documentation, a functional acuity score can be read directly from the test scoring sheet.
