As stated in the product description, this is our plastic eye patch. We do have another version with a foam edge, SKU 487810, if you wanted to try out that patch instead? Let us know if you'd like to arrange that.

Hi Gary, and thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the eyeshields you purchased for your dad are not comfortable for him, however, the description does state that they're made from plastic. We did respond to you directly with an alternative solution.
