In the state of Nevada, vision screenings are performed to identify early signs of vision problems in preschool and school-aged children. These screenings support educational success and developmental health.

Visual Acuity Screening:

Ages 3–5: LEA Symbols® or HOTV Letters at 5 feet.

Ages 6+: Sloan Letters or LEA Numbers® at 10 feet.
- Conducted monocularly (one eye at a time).
- Annual screening recommended for preschool-age children.

Near Vision Screening: Sloan Letters or LEA Numbers® near charts at 16 inches.

Instrument-Based Screening: Recommended for ages 1–2 or children unable to complete standard screenings.

- Stereoacuity (depth perception)
