About
The AAPOS Vision Screening Kit with HOTV and Sloan Letters provides distance visual acuity screening materials for ages 3 years through adulthood. HOTV targets offer a matching option for children who do not yet know their letters, while Sloan letters support testing once letter recognition is established.
The spiral-bound, multisided charts can be held by the examiner or hung on a wall for screening at 10 feet (3 meters). Both full-chart threshold and single critical-line formats are included.
The kit includes a black handheld flip-paddle occluder for children aged 10 and older and adults who do not tolerate eye patches, plus flip-up occluder glasses for children under 10 who do not tolerate patches. A 10-foot measuring cord, translucent response panel, and storage box are also included. Instructions are printed on one of the chart cards.
Designed for school nurses, pediatric and family medicine practices, Head Start personnel, Lions Club members, child care providers, and other vision screeners. The original kit was developed by Daniel E. Neely, MD, with support and approval from the AAPOS Vision Screening Committee and Board of Directors; the updated kit adds HOTV letters.
