In the state of North Carolina, vision screenings are implemented to identify visual issues early in a child’s development. These screenings are vital to academic success and child health.

Vision Screening Assessments:

  • Distance visual acuity
  • Depth perception (stereopsis screening)
  • Color vision deficiency screening

Age-Specific Requirements:

  • Annual screenings for children ages 3 to 6 years
  • Repeat screenings at ages 8, 10, 12, and 15 years
